PEMS Hygiene · The Workbook
You’ve done all the things. You’re still cranky.
The therapy. The breathwork. The books, the podcasts, the 5 a.m. routine you kept for eleven days. You know the theory. It still won’t stick.
This is the daily practice I teach between sessions, on paper, yours to keep.
Why it doesn’t stick
Two ways people stay stuck
You go from zero to a hundred.
New routine, new supplements, new app, all on a Monday. Ten days of white-knuckling, then you’re done.
Not because you’re lazy. Your body reads a full overhaul as one more emergency, and it runs straight back to the old program. Real change happens in one-degree shifts. Small enough to do. Often enough to count.
You’d rather hurt than change.
Not on purpose. But pain you know feels safer than a life you don’t. Familiar reads as safe; expansion reads as risk.
So you choose the old ache again, and call it being stuck. That’s not a character flaw. It’s your system doing exactly what it was built to do.
Nobody earns a black belt in a weekend. You drill it until it’s boring. Then it’s yours.
What you actually want
You don’t need another program. You need hygiene.
Every morning, without deciding to, you brush your teeth. Daily. Consistent. Repetitive. Not because you love it. Because you know what happens without it.
So what’s your hygiene routine for the rest of you?
Your body doesn’t change from intensity. It changes from repetition: small, steady signals, until the new pattern becomes the default. PEMS Hygiene is that routine, across all four systems that make you up.
Why I built it
I built this for my own body.
I live with autoimmune illness, and a nervous system that learned early to stay on guard. Some days, lifting, jiu-jitsu and yoga are all off the table. I still needed a practice I could anchor to on those days. Not a workout. Not a meditation app. Something that held all of me.
So I built one. Four systems, one anchor practice each, small enough to do on the worst day.
For thirty years I’ve read bodies under pressure, on the mat and on the table. The mat taught me that skills are perishable, like lettuce in your fridge: stop drilling and they’re gone. The table taught me that no two systems are the same, and none stays the same for long. PEMS holds both. A practice you drill daily, built around the body you actually have.

Who this is for
This is for you if
You’ve done all the things and you’re still cranky
You know the theory. Your body didn’t get the memo.
You start strong and fall off
Every. Single. Time.
Some days your body says no
No gym, no mat, no class, and you still need something to anchor to.
You read Gut Punch and want the practice
This is the daily work that sits underneath the book.
This isn’t for you if
You want a quick fix
This is a practice, not a weekend.
You want someone to do it for you
The workbook only works if you’re in it: honest, on the page.
You’re in acute crisis
This isn’t clinical or psychiatric care. If that’s what you need, please reach for it first.
If you’re tired of starting over, start smaller.

Questions
Do I need to be fit or flexible?
No. It’s built for people with mobility challenges, chronic pain or illness, and anyone whose body says no some days.
How long does it take?
Five foundation sections, 15 minutes to an hour each, over a few sittings. Then the 28-Day Reset, built from the practices you choose.
Is this therapy?
No. It’s a daily practice. It isn’t clinical care and it doesn’t replace it.
Can I print it?
Yes. Or type into it on screen and save as you go.
What if I want help with it?
That’s the Body Brief: two hours, one-on-one, in Vancouver or by video. Bring your workbook, and your CA$29 comes off if you book within 90 days of buying it.
You already know how to do this.
You brush your teeth every day without a pep talk. This is the same thing, for the rest of you. One degree at a time, until it’s just what you do.
